Hivey Day Care

I ran a daycare out of my home for over 20 years. I have help raise and seen many children grow up into adults. I went back into the work force in 2010. I have since missed being around children. The children did not watch alot of t.v., as I had them involved in many activities that I came up with. That included crafts, going to parks and zoos. We attended library programs as well as park programs. I involved the children in cooking and meal planning. I love to cook and sew. I have sewed professionally for many years. We went to a number of theater performances and had a imagination time during the week, where we would pull out the costume buckets and play dress up and put on skits. Reading was a huge aspect in out daily routine as well. We did many outside activities throughout the year. I kept a menu each week that the children would help me with. During the summers each day one of the children would be the helper at lunch time. Setting table, serving the food and some meal preparation. I am the mother of 3 amazing, talented, and educated children. Our family has done many things throughout the community, My kids and I were very active in our church as well as the community theater, including the Columbus Childrens' theater and Davis Performing Arts Center. We have don quite a bit of voluntary work, example Food Pantries and various walks. I adore children and feel that in this day and age it is important to help children stay focused on the old values of manners, respect and activity. There is so much out there to offer children that does not involve television and games.
