Hilltop Montessori School

Hilltop Montessori School is located on seven acres in the beautiful town of Mt Laurel, conveniently located off Highway 280 near Greystone. HMS is proud to be the only school in Alabama that is accredited by The American Montessori Society, The Southern Association of Independent Schools, AdvancED and The National Council of Private School Accreditation. Our early childhood program is also licensed by The Department of Human Resources.

Hilltop's mission is to light the flame of learning to achieve a lifetime of success and this is evident in this mission-driven atmosphere. Students not only receive individualized instruction, but they also have art, music and daily Spanish immersion. Highly trained and specialized faculty have internationally recognized Montessori certifications and truly care about all aspects of the student: social, emotional and academic. Rigorous standards and academics are offered in a beautiful, spacious academic setting where the development of the whole child is addressed.

Known for a high standard of academics, preschool students engage in language, advanced math concepts, including the fundamentals of algebra and geometry. Most fluently read and thrive with this well-rounded curriculum that emphasizes the process of learning. Science, geography, history and practical life work, as well as global education, round out each learner's day. Current best practices in education such as project-based learning, differentiated instruction, global education and experiential learning all comprise the Montessori experience.

Outdoor classrooms offer global education opportunities, raised garden beds grow edible plants, an apiary makes honey for the school's stakeholders and a state of the art community kitchen makes homemade lunches from scratch that are preservative free.

Hilltop's early childhood program starts at 18 months and extends through kindergarten.
