I highly recommend Heartland Doulas. We used them for both birth and postpartum services. The postpartum care was invaluable. Without their service I wouldn't have succeeded in breastfeeding and I would not have snapped out of the baby blues as quickly. But I will also add, if breastfeeding hadn't worked out, I'm confident they would have supported me in transitioning to formula. Basically, a wonderfully empathetic woman comes to your house and listens to you cry, she figures out what you need to hear, and tells you that. I know they will do light housekeeping and meal prep, but honestly I just wanted them to hold the baby and soothe him. They never made me feel bad about needing a break from him.
My baby is already 5 months old, but we still have a doula come occasionally. It is so nice to have someone to talk to and reassure me my feelings are normal.
