Greenwich Nursery School (half-day Preschool Only!) (registration Opens In Mid-february For 23-24 School Year)

Our non-denominational, private nonprofit, play-based preschool, certified by NJ Department of Children and Families, will be celebrating 50 years in September 2023. Our school is a high quality, yet affordable option for families looking for a traditional preschool experience with a family-oriented approach.

We offer half-day preschool, typically 9am-12pm, for 2.5, 3, and 4-6 year old students during the school year. In addition, we offer afternoon enrichment programs for our 4-5 year old students to help them prepare for Kindergarten, additional socialization, and incorporate topics we know the kids staying will truly enjoy.

Our purpose is to provide a comprehensive program designed to meet the developmental needs of each child so he/she will grow emotionally, socially, physically, and intellectually in an atmosphere of love, acceptance, and support. We recognize children are best understood and supported in the context of family, culture, community and society. ​​​​

GNS is a preschool that offers the 'gift of a year' for parents that would like their young 5 year old to do another year of preschool before starting Kindergarten. Typically, students that are born late Summer to early Fall are either sent to Kindergarten at age 5 or parents can choose to have them attend preschool an additional year. Depending on many factors, many parents choose to have their kids stay in preschool to enjoy the play-based learning environment. GNS is a perfect school for 5 year old students, whom their parents are looking for a place for their child to continue to develop and mature in a way that made sense to their stage of child development. We have never had a parent who was unhappy they delayed their child's start to Kindergarten, only those who wished they took advantage of this option.

Please note that we are a peanut and tree nut free school.

2.5 class = Tuesday & Thursday 9am-11am
3's class= Tuesday & Thursday 9am-12pm
4's class Mon/Wed/Friday 9am-12pm
4's class Monday-Friday 9am-12pm
Afternoon Enrichment for the 4s students 12pm-2:30pm (available 5 days a week for just lunch until 12:45pm or lunch/play/learn 12pm-2:30pm)
