First Steps Academy

With years of experience in providing first-rate childcare in the West Plano area, we understand that children thrive in nurturing environments that cultivate learning, growth, and development. With that in mind, we offer warm and loving care that is grounded in creating and maintaining a secure, stable, and affectionate environment that provides care to children, as early as 6 weeks old, at his or her point of need. Your child will not want to leave us at the end of the day! We are conveniently located north of Legacy, between Coit and Independence. Our hours of operation begin at 6:30 a.m. and end at 6: 00 p.m. Monday through Friday. CPR and First Aid certified.

The Director is a certified teacher who holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology with emphasis on Human Development. I am also a parent who firmly believes that children should and will explore, learn, and develop when they are placed in an atmosphere that feels safe, warm, and pleasant. We surround and embrace each child with an enjoyable and satisfying smoke free, clean, organized, comfortable, and dynamic atmosphere that fosters sincerity, interest, exploration, and learning while providing them the opportunity to participate in rewarding, positive, and age appropriate interaction with other children. Each day, your child will have hot and healthy family style meals and snacks (at no extra cost) and supervised indoor and outdoor play to stimulate physical and developmental growth. Even more, every child will engage, at their age appropriate level, in the following activities.

o Indoor play - such as organized games, stories, music, singing, and art and crafts
o Outdoor play - when weather permits
o Scheduled rest periods with individual cribs and mats
o Communication that facilitates active learning
o Interactive activities to encourage creativity, individuality, and group learning

Homework assistance as well as before and after school care, for children ages 4 to 8, is also available. These services include transportation to and from school (for an additional fee); nutritious snacks; assistance with reading, writing, and mathematics assignments; and monitored play. My goal is to equip each child with strong values, positive self-esteem, skills, and citizenship upon which they can build, learn, and grow.
