First Bloom's Mission:
Our mission is to provide a warm, safe and child-centered environment that encourages positive self-esteem, self-discovery, social interaction and joy of learning fro young children. Each child's self-esteem is fostered by positive relationships with students and adults. We strive to have our parents' teachers, and community members actively involved in children's learning.

We seek to create a challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for success through developmentally-appropriate instruction that allows for individual differences and learning styles.

All About Us...
Alexis Salubro, MS and Erica Kurppe, BA are sisters who grew up in Westchester, NY. They have over 25 years combined experience in the education and childcare professions. The sisters cultivated their love of teaching from their parents. Their mother has achieved much success as an educator for over 30 years, and her studies at Bank Street College. She is always supporting her girls, especially with their new educational administrative duties.

Alexis Salubro, MS
Alexis is a NYS certified licensed general and special education teacher for over five years. Alexis has cultivated and guided children's learning in Kindergarten through 4th grade in special education and inclusion classrooms. She has an excellent record in students achievements. Her students had the highest proficient ratio in special education in her school. Alexis' philosophy is modeled after Maria Montessori and John Dewey, as both believed that "doing is learning." She allows children to develop at their own developmentally appropriate pace with an array of hands on materials to do so.

Erica Kurppe, BA
Erica is a graduate from the College of Mount St. Vincent with a degree in Psychology and Sociology. She has over 10 years of experience working in the childcare industry. Erica's expertise is with multiples under the age of 5. With her background in psychology, she understands and is aware of the different stages of child development.
