Fayette Cooperating Preschool

The Fayette Cooperating Preschool, also known as "Co-op," offers an exceptional first-school experience for young children and a unique program that nurtures parents as well. The foundation of our program is direct parent involvement. We are the only parent-teacher cooperative preschool in Central Kentucky. Co-op's curriculum and facilities are carefully designed to meet the social, intellectual, emotional, and physical needs of children. Children learn though age-appropriate, hands-on activities and interactions with adults and other children. The Fayette Cooperating Preschool offers half day classes for children ages 2 years old - 5 years old with some extended days available.

At Co-op, we strive to give young children the skills and the confidence they need to be able to:

*Approach learning with an attitude of involvement and active engagement
*Use their own initiative in exploring new learning situations
*Have a strong sense of their own worth and the valuable contributions that each individual brings to a group
*Make good choices for themselves

In addition to a qualified teacher and a teacher's aide, one to three parents work each day in the classroom. Many programs and training opportunities are sponsored by the school each year for parents to learn about working with groups of children, as well as to gain insight into the development of their own child. Positive approaches and constructive choices are integral parts of the philosophy of the school.
