About the business
Family Care at Home is your gateway to home-based support for families facing the need to care for loved ones at home.
If an elder or a person (age 16 years, or older) with disability is enrolled in Mass Health Insurance, or qualifies for Mass Health, we provide an option for family members to receive payment for caring for their loved one at his or her home or yours.
Who is Eligible for Family Care Support?
Part of our work at Family Care at Home is to help determine whether your family is eligible for this help.
You may get paid for providing home-care if:
- Your loved one is eligible for Mass Health insurance coverage.
- Your physician approves.
- Your loved one needs help performing one or more Activities of Daily Living like bathing, dressing, toileting, walking or wheelchair assistance or eating, but does not need full-time nursing home care.
- Your loved one lives with you or is willing to live with you in your home or theirs.
Family Care at Home is here to help you manage the application process and make sure that you get the training and support that you need. You may get paid for providing home-care to your loved-one.
Who Is a Caregiver?
You may already be a caregiver.
A caregiver can be a family member but not a legal guardian or the parent of a disabled minor child.
A preferred caregiver may be related to the recipient of care, but does no have to be related.
A caregiver must be interviewed, have references and be approved by the Adult Family Care program.
A caregiver or a group of caregivers must be available to provide round-the-clock support.
A caregiver will participate in an annual training regimen and will be trained in home safety issues.
