Doreen's After School Pick-up And Care

My name is Doreen, I'm 59 and married, and have a year and a half of college. I have great references, and would like to help out some families.

To give a little more background, my husband and I have lived in the Lake San Marcos area in this house now for about 7 years (North County since 1980), and during those 7 years I ran a small business here as a hire-able daughter-in-law, so to speak, to aid elders in their day to day living which was very successful. I gave up the business though in 2013 to care full-time for my own mother-in-law in our home who is no longer with us. Outside and all around that I have been in the childcare business off and on my whole life, along with having raised 2 grown daughters and now being also a grandparent to 6 grandchildren locally.

I would like to offer my services in after school pick-up and care at my house until you can pick up after work. I am very engaging, have lots of love and patience, can help them with their homework, provide healthy foods and lots of fun activities. Since I'm not having to do domestic "in-home" chores as babysitters and nanny's I am able to devote myself more to your child's experience in exploring new things outside of their norm with one-on-one adult supervision. Rates are thus lower and very negotiable.

Our home is always warm and clean and very nurturing. I will be the only one home until about 6:30 at which time my husband gets home. (His name is Don, 62, MBA, BA, in high-rise commercial management downtown SD for 28 years; was active in the Vista Unified School District for years, chairing Classrooms for Kids; Committee Chairman for 2002 Bond effort which passed to build new schools, Citizen's Bond Oversight Committee between 2002-2005.)

Music is part of our home environment along with having lots of wonderful art supplies, award winning board games, puzzles, books, and more. Not a fan of TV, but have a desk top computer in our living room for children to watch more beneficial programming and to research interests. In addition we have outdoor play and 1/2 block away there are private paddle ball courts if there is interest.

My specialty is to communicate and share with them a wonderful sense of love, companionship and compassion for all of life, especially towards family and friends, and to help foster in them an ever enlarging concept of generosity and self-confidence hand in hand with self-discipline to grow into strong, well-balanced, unique individuals.
