Discovery House Preschool

I am located in Chesapeake, Virginia (Providence & Campostella/Holly Point I-290B). I am state licensed and have my (CDA) Child Development Associate. I Participate in Child Care Aware-Military Fee Assistance Program and Virginia Star Quality Initiative (VSQI). I am open throughout the year. I open 24 hours and also on some holidays. I use developmentally appropriate practices for children in their early years. I have provided child care for over 13 years. I enjoy spending time with young children and I am delighted when they have a wonderful time away from their home during the day. I have a preschool set up in a warm and nurturing atmosphere specifically for children 18 months - 6 years of age. I ensure that all toys, books and activities and curriculum are developmentally appropriate. Children are encouraged to wander and discover the joy of learning in the various learning centers designed for them. I provide family-style meals and snacks (USDA). Children are encouraged to serve and pour their own food and beverages. This helps children with hand and eye motor coordination. After breakfast and lunch meals, I give the children an opportunity to brush their teeth. I assist parents with potty learning (training) for young children who are still in diapers or pullups. My back yard is large and fenced-in so that children can run and play safely.
