I began my career in nursing working with the geriatric population who lived in long-term care facilities. Seeing residents alone and bored I moved into a position as a therapeutic recreation therapist to help give them a purpose for being alive. I noticed the residents coming to activities were suffering from personal grooming neglect . The female residents had long, dirtyunkept hair and the men had unwashed , uncut hair with unshaven faces. If you have hair you better care! Personal grooming neglect has become the norm with people who are unable to care for themselves. Again, I needed to make yet another career change to help the helpless maintain a high level of DIGNITY within the health care community . I coined the name HEALTHCARE BEAUTICIAN and created the first LOOK GOOD, FEEL GOOD, HEAL GOOD PROGRAM with amazing results for people with mental or physical challenges in nursing homes, rehab centers and hospitals. Knowing how important healing is and the benefits of living at home I needed to expand my services to people who choose to remain independent yet live with mental or physical challenges.
