Dawn 'til Dusk Daycare

I offer a daycare environment which is loving and caring where fun and learning go hand in hand. I provide an enriching experience where each child's strengths can be enhanced and weaknesses can be developed. My program consists of lots of outdoor activities. I utilize 4 different playgrounds along with activities involving chalk, balls, and bubbles. Weather permitting there are bike/scooter rally days and in the winter, sledding and snow fort and snowman making. In the summer there are plenty of water activities and children 3 and up are allowed to participate in swim lessons at the community pool. My preschool curriculum consists of a program called Funshine Express. There is 3 to 4 crafts a week. Letter of the week. 2 numbers for the month. Shape and color of the month. Spanish and Sign Language are explored. Circle time is daily which includes calendar, weather, counting, patterns, letter recognition, letter sounds and review. The children balance hands on projects such as puzzles, lace and trace, memory games, dominoes, painting, stamping etc. with ditto practice every day which includes name writing, letter and number practicing, problem solving etc. I subscribe to enrichedlearning.com and scholastic weekly readers. In addition, I incorporate sight word readers and word cards individualized for each child into the program. My science units consists of themes which incorporate exercises, observations, gathering, and some experiments. For example, some of my units have been "the water cycle", "robins and their nesting habits", "planting", "echoes", etc. Field trips consist of trips to the Fountainrock Nature Center, the Catoctin Zoo, visit to see Santa Claus, Chuck E. Cheese, Ballenger Creek Park, and other trips depending on kids in care. Daily we visit with another daycare provider at the park providing the children with additional social situations. Each month the client is provided a monthly newsletter with "show and tell dates", "party dates" and other important information. Open communication is extremely important to the success of my business. I have 4 children and each was in some type of daycare when they were younger. I am well aware of both sides of daycare. I love the children. I enjoy watching them learn and grow. I love to hear them say "I love you, Ms. Dawn." They bring a smile to my face every day.
