Dannye's Child Care

Dannye's Child Care is a family-type atmosphere with a limited number of children (normally a maximum of 4) so that I can provide daily outings and personalized activities. Daily outings include library story times at both of our local libraries, the Children's Museum, rec center tot lots, indoor play areas, and parks. Activities include art, science, reading instruction, and live music daily (piano and voice). We focus on good manners and politeness.

Our daily schedule has snacks, meals, and nap time at the same time every day, and I provide healthy food.

Safety is a priority! The child-accessible areas of the house are baby-proofed, and there are no firearms in the home. Car seats are always installed and used correctly. I have no moving violations on my driving record, and no one in the family smokes, drinks alcohol, or uses drugs. We do have two super-friendly dogs in the home who also love children. Of course, interaction between the dogs and children is supervised. My children and my current charges have had all pediatrician-recommended vaccinations. I do require that all my charges be current on vaccinations or have a medical exemption.

I maintain contact with parents via the app/website Baby Connect, which lists all children's daily activities, from diapers/potty to nap to food (and of course I am always reachable by text and phone calls).

About Dannye:

I absolutely love children. When my kids grew older, I missed having little ones so much that I started this job as a way to borrow other people's children! I just love having kids around the house. I care for my charges like I did my own kids when I was a stay-at-home mom, with trips to various places and lots of fun activities like crafts, baking, and music. I am CPR certified and have taken first aid for young children. I am extremely organized and I keep my home clean.

I am 40 years old and married, with three children of my own, all in high school. My kids are honors students, and I taught them all to read prior to kindergarten. I am a fiction writer and blogger, and I volunteer weekly as a music therapist at Hope Lodge, singing and playing the piano for cancer patients, as well as at the Iowa City Animal Shelter with my daughters. I hold a BA and an MA in Linguistics.
