In terms of childcare I believe that positive reinforcement, creative learning, consistency, patience and a sense of humor are fundamental. I am very interactive with the kids I care for and love going out on field trips! Learning through hands-on experience is fun and effective so your little one will always be engaged when here. Open Mon-Fri 6 a.m.-5 p.m. I have a Bachelors degree from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. My rates are negotiable as are my hours. The occasional weekend and date-night can be done with notice. I am only able to care for 1-2 children at once in order to provide the best possible care and individualized attention that I feel is necessary for successful child development.
My home is located in a great neighborhood within walking distance from biking/walking trails, several parks, fishing ponds, and a clubhouse with volleyball, basketball, tennis courts and both a regular and baby pool. In my yard I have a fun castle playground, trampoline and outdoor toys. I have an inflatable "water-park" that I use in the summer. Indoors I have every toy and game you can imagine including a playroom with an arts and crafts area. Besides taking your little one out; I also enjoy baking, creating, playing games and reading with kids. I have a reliable family vehicle with an 8 person capacity.
I have both personal and professional experience with special needs that spans most of my life including a camp counselor for children with special needs. This experience includes Sensory Input/Diet, ASD, PDD, Picture Exchange System, ADD/ADHD, OCD, Mental Illness, Communication and Developmental Delays as well as Sign Language. Plus I have three kids of my own, two of which are school age. Alec-2, Arianna-8 and Anthony-13 who has Asperger's Syndrome (very high-functioning).
