Country Weekend Care

Country Home Visit is a FULL WEEKEND CHILDCARE service provided by an Honors student and Certified Teacher.
My name is Lorrie Whiddon. I have been working with children since 1983 when I assisted my mother with her home daycare. I began teaching shortly thereafter. I have a Masters degree in early childhood development/Education from the University of New Orleans. I have taught children from birth to 12 years over the past 25 years. I am a mother of three, two of whom are grown, and a grandmother of one!

Since 2009 I have been working with birth to three as an early intervention teacher. I am sometimes available to care for children/special needs children during the week in my home on a case by case basis. Right now I am helping my own daughter get started in this field by joining her in offering this weekend service.

Promise Grace is 16 years old and will be a junior at PRC Highschool this fall. She is an Honor Roll student who is in Showchoir, plays Soccor and is actively involved in school clubs..i.e. Peppers, Security Council.
Over the years, she has been involved with Picayune On Stage and Picayune Writers group. Promise is very creative, funny, kindhearted and loves the Lord.
My family has attended Resurrection Life Ministries since 2006 and Promise has worked in the children's nursery for the past four years and has been a VBS leader for six years. She loves children, aspires to be a Teacher and needs a job:)
My daughter and I offer a safe, nurturing, Christian environment with good quality care Saturday AM through Sunday PM. In some instances we will take children on Friday evenings.
We live on 50 acres of beautiful rolling hills with 5 fishing ponds; a wonderful excursion from the suburbs!
During your child's stay he/she will have a weekend full of rural adventures, including feeding chickens and bunnies, fishing, working a bit in a veggie garden, taking a peddle boat ride and soon a ponycart! Each weekend has a unique schedule of both outdoor and indoor learning activities, including arts and crafts,cooking, jacks,checkers and other board games, puppets, storytime, piano and music fun.
Our homebased childcare is designed to be educational and fun and a bit old fashioned! We host 1 to 4 children per weekend on a first call/scheduled basis. Please feel free to contact us for rates, references and scheduling.
