Community Adventures Preschool

Community Adventures Preschool is a licensed home-based preschool, located in the Carmel Valley neighborhood of San Diego, California. We maintain, at most, a 1:6 ratio so your child receives the individual care and education they deserve with an emphasis on social and emotional development. Our ratio is 1:3 or 1:4 in the mornings for our community adventures.

An integral part of our program is the time we spend out and about in our community. Each day the children have the opportunity to explore nature and continue to develop their sense of curiosity about the world. Our space is within walking distance of a neighborhood park where the children have the freedom to play, explore, and get dirty. We are also within walking distance of a bluff and grassy area that overlooks the ocean, a library, multiple stores and restaurants, an elementary school, and more. We are active participants in the larger community around us. During these adventures, we maintain a 1:4 or lower ratio for the safety of the children.

Our approach is play-based and we are inspired by the Reggio and RIE philosophies. Our curriculum is emergent - we believe children learn best when the curriculum is designed around their interests and they have the ability to freely explore and gain hands-on experience at their own pace. Our indoor environment is full of open-ended objects for children to develop their creativity and imagination. Our goal is to inspire a love of learning, rather than focusing on memorization.

Our current program is designed for children 2 1/2 - 4 years old. We are open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30AM to 4:30PM. We offer extended hours for an additional fee.
