Assist the client with grooming activities including:
Bathing
Skin care (apply non-medicated lotions)
Hair care: shampoo & combing hair
Nail care (no trimming)
Oral hygiene: brushing teeth & assistance with cleaning dentures
Shaving:
Assist the client with dressing in clean, weather-appropriate clothing
Assist the client with mobility: (transferring, ambulation) and providing access to the outdoors when appropriate. Assisting with range of motion exercises, encouraging safe use of equipment and assistive devices (walkers, wheelchairs and canes). Assist with change of position
Assist the client with toileting: use of bedpan, commode, or urinal, incontinent care, changing of foley bag and certain ostomy bags
Taking and recording vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure)
Measuring and recording height/weight
Observing client's physical, mental and emotional conditions
Assist with medication management/reminders.
Assistance with IADL's:
Light housekeeping and home management such as:
Changing bed linens
Sweeping and vacuuming
Dusting of client's environment
Defrosting refrigerators, when necessary
Bathrooms: wiping down bathtub, sink and toilet, wipe up floors if wet
Kitchen: washing dishes, wiping counter tops and sink, moping the floor
Garbage: emptying garbage and waste baskets
Assistance with client's laundry (washing, folding and putting away). Laundry for any family members or others in the same home is not the responsibility of caregiver
Planning and preparation of meals for the client
Meal planning, preparation, and assistance with feeding.
Shopping and Errands. May include transportation. If transportation is required for the client the client and employee will be required to sign a waiver
