About Coastal Companions Care, Inc.

We are dedicated to companion care for the elderly, trying to do our part to minimize senior isolation and loneliness. We provide companion care visits and also companion care phone calls. We do establish a good relationship with our companion before we begin companion calls. With the high cost of assisted living, this is a great affordable way to make sure your loved one avoids as much solidarity and loneliness as possible. Our most popular arrangements include two visits per week along with a phone call a dayon the days that we don't visit in person. Even just a phone call from a familiar voice can brighten the entire day for a lonely loved one. We are not nurses, strictly a friend for a person in need. In past experience, I am convinced that young children can be a very effective happy "medicine" for the elderly. My almost two year old daughter has been an enormous help when visiting our companions. She is very smiley, very helpful, and also sweet yet entertaining. She was even the "official wheelchair pusher" for my grandmother in the past. Of course, not all seniors enjoy this so I am always happy to come alone! We are happy to help with little chores around the house while spending time with our companions. Even tasks such as changing a light bulb or filling up a bird feeder can be a huge task when someone reaches a certain age. According to PNAS or "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences" senior isolation can be a factor in many health issues and can also allow acute symptoms to go unnoticed that will eventually lead to bigger problems. A family member taking on full responsibility for care for a loved one can also lead to isolation and depression in themselves. Sharing the time spent can help tremendously for all parties. Our goal at the end of the day is to leave our companions with a smile, whether it is an in person visit or a phone call to say hello and have a friendly chat.
