About the business
Child Care that feels like Home; Preschool with a Homeschool touch.
In the early years, nurturing a child's wonder and curiosity is so important. Singing songs, hearing music, seeing pictures, settling in for a familiar story, and creating art are just a few ways that help curiosity thrive and prompt children to learn naturally, effortlessly, and instinctively. Likewise, playing pretend or running around outside can preserve a child's positive outlook. The value of play and pretend - a treasure trove of marvels and novelties - is not overlooked or neglected at Classical Learning Adventures, nor is the value of maintaining a predictable day and resisting the urge to rush through it.
At the preschool age, habits of learning and communication begin to form, and exposure to what keeps the soul enchanted and wondrous will positively impact a child's heart and mind. Cultivating wonder and curiosity, and a love of language, will be some of many priorities. To instill a love of reading in a child is to instill a lifetime of adventure; to teach a child to read is to instill a lifetime's ability to learn.
At school time, your child will learn the Alphabet letters and sounds, followed by a systematic reading program that takes time to incrementally teach the sounds of letter blends; ultimately, your child will be on his way to reading three-letter (CVC) words and phonics books! Sight words will also be incorporated, along with tracing or writing letters when your child is ready.
Mathematics and reasoning will entail counting, number, shape, and color recognition (in form and print), ordering, matching, and possibly addition. The day, week, and month will be taught, along with seasons, weather, animals, and nature. Students will practice their good manners and kindness toward others.
Your child's time at Classical Learning Adventures will be a time of wonder, curiosity, and words! Whether hearing stories or poems, looking at pictures or listening to music and telling about it, counting by 1's and 2's, performing skits or puppet shows, drawing shapes or playing outside, words will be the basis of everything we do, learn, and accomplish this school year.
Above all, sustaining wonder, curiosity, and creating positive learning and communication habits are the goals for our preschoolers, for this will lend to the exciting learning opportunities and expectations yet to come.
We have two full-time openings (3 & over) and one part-time morning spot.
