INTRODUCTION
The Child & Teen Success Centers, established in 1997, specialize in the evaluation and treatment of young people, ages 4-17, who have a wide range of problems including those of attention, conduct, mood, socialization, developmental delay and learning disabilities. Our unique multi-faceted treatment program is specifically designed to appeal to young people because it is fun, challenging, and rewarding.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to properly diagnose and treat young people, many of whom do not benefit from traditional psychotherapy. Youth friendly techniques enable us to actively pursue results in the shortest possible time.
TREATMENT PRINCIPLES
Our experience is that most clients have psychobiological disorders rather than deep-rooted emotional disorders related to poor parenting. In other words, we believe our clients experience difficulties in life because they have inherited and/or developed problematic temperaments, cognitive styles, and impulsivity. Our staff does not exacerbate a family s problems by blaming the parents.
The Center maintains that most young people, regardless of diagnosis, can be taught to expand the ways they approach and react to situations. Their problems can be overcome through generating new and creative solutions, implementing them, and monitoring their results.
Once young people experience the rewards that come with more effective functioning, they become motivated to pursue excellence. As success replaces failure, a genuine sense of self-esteem develops. Self-esteem based on accomplishment and confidence rather than outside approval and peer acceptance. Ultimately, our objective is to contribute to society by empowering our clients to become positive members and leaders in their communities.
METHODS
The Child & Teen Success Centers have devised state of the art approaches to fulfill our mission. We have regularly presented at professional conventions and seminars to teach other professionals our methodology. Our methods utilize innovative family (child-parent) group sessions to teach and motivate clients to achieve their goals. Objectives include improving self-control, enhancing problem solving ability, and refining social skills. Attitude modification, conflict resolution skills, and self-esteem development are key components to our treatment program.
