WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DAYCARE AND A MONTESSORI COMMUNITY?
As a long-term educator I have had the opportunity to work in private daycares, established centers, and schools. While all of these establishments provide childcare, the main difference you are going to see between an at-home daycare and a Montessori community is the level of involvement, education, and developmental encouragement/support for your child. We believe that education begins at birth and that it is our responsibility to assist and support your child for each sensitive period for their incredible development.
An Infant-Toddler Montessori Community:
-Focuses on child-led exploration vs. adult-set group activities
-Provides children with an appropriately established and controlled environment to encourage learning, innovation, initiation, and expression
-Trained and registered teachers with university degrees and teaching certifications vs. Untrained and uncertified educators looking to professionally babysit
-Teachers undergo continuous training hours in both Montessori philosophy and early childhood development and education
-Provides children with a deliberate educational program vs. all-day play
-Provides education for life including care of the person and care of the environment
-Practices grace and courtesy vs. Group conformity
-Low ratios
-Focus on developing inner discipline vs. Obedience training
-Development of independence, self-confidence, and growth mindset
-Curriculum to support and encourage gross motor development, fine motor development, language, math, development of the stereognostic senses and much more.
-Creation of a community. We offer a Montessori Matters class, a Pour Parents Club , parent informational nights, Dudes & Donuts meet up, and multiple community field trips throughout the year.
