Byrd's Nest Childcare

The Byrd's Nest provides full-time and part-time childcare where there are activities for every age level. Our childcare program is play-based, natural, developmental, engaging and fun for the "whole child" inspired by Attachment Parenting, Reggio Emilia and Compassionate Communication. We encourage children to be independent thinkers and problem solvers and to express themselves. There is a special emphasis on promoting self-esteem, and helping children express their needs through words.

We feel it is important that your child feels safe, secure, loved, and most importantly, that he or she has fun. We are committed to providing your child with a supportive and enriching environment that promotes respect, responsibility and community through exploration and discovery.

Your child will experience a world rich with discovery guided by sensitive caregivers who celebrate each child's individuality. We believe that each child is unique and needs a caring and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, creatively and socially.

The Byrd's Nest philosophy is based on the key principle that children learn best through active, hands-on exploration. With caring and experienced caregivers as guides, our methodology encourages discovery within a stimulating environment that can nurture each child's curiosity, potential, and growth.

We believe each child is different and we cater to their individual needs and help them grow and expand mentally, emotionally and socially. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we consider ourselves co-learners and collaborators with your child, not just instructors. We will actively engage with you child during activities instead of sitting alongside and watching.

The Byrd's Nest provides a safe, clean and fun environment for play and structured hands-on activities that include music, arts and crafts, reading and gardening that encourage your child's imagination, creativity and independence.

We have a No Child Left to Cry policy and do not believe in letting a child "cry it out". Instead, we will attend to the child and comfort them to resolve the issue.

We facilitate open communication between our staff and parents and we encourage you to ask questions regarding your child's activity, nutrition, growth and development.
