About the business
This summer, Butterflies and Bumblebees Early Learning Center is offering reading, phonics, and math support to children who are planning to enter kindergarten Fall 2019. We use the phonics program Play n' Talk to teach the foundation of reading, phonics. Saxon Math will be used to teach pre-math and mathematics.
The main goal of Pre-K is to prepare children for more independence, higher expectations, and more rigorous learning activities ahead for them upon entering kindergarten. Most kindergarten children are expected to know all their letters A-Z, capital and lowercase, as well as numerals 1-20. Many kindergarten teachers expect children to know letter sounds as well. The goal of our Summer Reading and Math program at Butterflies and Bumblebees will fall in line with Pre-K goals and kindergarten expectations. We will prepare children for kindergarten, and also give them a foot forward by giving them a solid foundation of reading and math skills before entering kindergarten.
Our program will be three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), two hours per day (from 9am to 11am) beginning June 25, 2019. Thirty minutes to an hour will consist of reading and math learning time. The remaining time will be dedicated to fun summer/outdoor activities, art projects, and science experiments! This program is designed to be in a small group setting (5-8) children, but also offers individual tutoring for children with specific needs.
Butterflies and Bumblebees is an Early Learning Center for children ages birth to five years old. Please see the Butterflies and Bumblebees Care.com page for information regarding daycare for children in this age group. Also, see the B&B website listed.

I, Danielle Hampton, will be the teacher/tutor on staff for this program. I have obtained a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University in Georgia. Therefore, I have a Georgia teaching certificate as well as a provisional Michigan teaching certificate. I have 2+ years of experience in an early learning setting working with 3-4 year olds teaching pre-reading, pre-math, science, and social skills. Currently, I am employed as a Pre-K teacher with Rochester Community Schools until June 2019. Since March 2018, I have been in the Blended Pre-K program at Baldwin Elementary working with general education as well as special education students teaching Pre-K level reading, math, science, art, and music. My passion is seeing children learn something new and seeing their faces light up with joy. My goal is to teach children with gentleness, kindness, and grace, meeting children where they are as well as encouraging them to reach the next level.
