Building Brainiacs is a specialized tutoring company comprised of certified teachers who are experts in their respective fields. Based in New York City, our tutoring specialists have been selectively chosen to join our team of educators. They have builta solid reputation for helping students make accelerated progress in 1:1 instruction, and they possess a myriad of experience teaching students who struggle with dyslexia, social/emotional/behavioral disorders, and ADD/ADHD. At Building Brainiacs, we know how important it is to be comfortable while learning, so we provide all instruction in our students' homes. Our tutors are certified, experienced teachers who specialize in the following areas: Literacy / ELA (K-12) Math (K-12) Science (K-12) Test Prep (Common Core / New York State standardized tests, SAT, GRE, middle/high school/college entrance exams) Behavior Management Consulting (both home and classroom). Often times, students come to us who are performing years below their grade level, and our tutoring specialists help these students make accelerated progress to get back on track. How do we do it? Here's our secret: Our instruction is based on tried and tested methods, and is informed by the latest cutting-edge research in science and education. Over the past decade, brain imaging research has been instrumental in helping uncover myths about dyslexia, in particular, and has informed our approach to working with students who struggle with this language-based disorder. Our tutors are well-versed in Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, and other multi-sensory approaches to help our struggling learners. When a new student comes to us, we conduct an in-depth diagnostic evaluation to determine the student's strengths and weaknesses. We compile the data gathered from the evaluation into a formal report, which includes an analysis of the data, our instructional recommendations, and 3-4 attainable goals. This evaluation is the cornerstone to our students' success because it allows our tutors to target each student's individual strengths and instructional needs, so they can provide systematic instruction to address the underlying issues. Every child, regardless of his or her IQ, is susceptible to knowledge gaps and skill deficits.
