I offer parent-infant classes and nanny training courses using the RIE methodology.

INFANT AND TODDLER CARE FOR NANNIES

Everyone wants their child to have a secure, responsive and trusting caregiver one who provides a physically safe, emotionally nurturing, and cognitively challenging environment for their child. During the course of a day with infants and toddlers, nannies play different roles in the child's activities.

Johanna Herwitz, PhD, RIE Mentor, and Jessica Faith, RIE Intern, will coach nannies how to switch between the roles of "wanting something" and "wanting nothing:"

- Diaper, dress and feed infants and toddlers with respect
- Provide a safe, age appropriate environment for independent exploration alone or with other children

Nannies will learn to observe the children in their care and enjoy their time together more. Parents will feel confident that their children are receiving the benefits of Magda Gerber's Educaring Approach.
PARENT-INFANT GUIDANCE COURSE

During the parent-infant classes, we come together in a safe environment to observe the babies' unfolding development, interactions, and uninterrupted play. Caregivers quietly observe their babies as Jessica Faith, a RIE Intern, models intervention and limit setting. We discuss our observations and interpretations as Jessica provides insight into the Magda Gerber's philosophy and approach, such as:

- Care giving moments (diapering, feeding, and bathing) as a means of attachment
- Experiencing free play
- Creating a safe environment
- Setting limits and intervening
- Communicating authentically

Babies are grouped according to developmental level.
