Most seniors prefer to remain in the comfort of their own homes to age in place. While moving to an assisted-living has many benefits and pluses, it can be very costly and your freedom is compromised. Imagine you wake up hungry at 5:30 am and want to have a toast or cereal while watching the morning news from your favorite chair or couch. Of course, that's possible at home but in a facility, rules are set and you will be told to wait until breakfast is served usually around 8 am. This will not make early birds happy at all.
