About the business
Bone Worx was founded in 2017 with the goal of helping people develop positive relationships with their dogs. We are professional dog walkers, pet sitters, and dog trainers. We offer personalized services that fit the individual needs of you and your pets. So whether you have a spunky puppy who needs reinforcement on his potty routine, a teenager who needs to burn off some energy, a savvy senior who needs a tune-up on her basic manners or a frolicking kitten who needs someone to chase mice with, we can assist. Bone Worx believes in enriching the lives of your pets.
Bone Worx provides services Monday - Friday from 7 am-10 pm, rain or shine. We have several scheduling options to fit a wide variety of needs. We offer "Early Bird" or "Night Owl" walks before 10 am or after 6 pm. Whether you need us every day or just once in a while, Bone Worx has you covered.
We understand your schedule is busy and unpredictable. Your dog needs daily exercise but fitting a couple 30 minute walks into your daily schedule isn't always easy. Likewise, it's hard to turn your keys over to a stranger. After all, you're leaving two of the things that mean the most to you; your home and your pets. Our goal is to provide you with consistent, safe, and trustworthy pet care. Whether you're traveling for business or pleasure, leave your pet home where they are most comfortable, and we will come and visit them. We are your guilt-free alternative to boarding or imposing on friends and family.
Bone Worx believes in Force-Free training, in teaching an animal without pain, intimidation, threats, force, or coercion. It's done without physical corrections, without collars (including "vibrating" collars used to "get your dog's attention"), and without pain.
Bone Worx uses Positive Reinforcement as our main training method. Positive in this sense means that we are adding something to reinforce a behavior. For example, treat training as a form of reward. If you ask your dog to sit, and if he does, you reward him with a tasty treat or praise. Positive reinforcement is the core concept of force-free training.
Whether you're thinking about bringing a dog into your home for the first time or want to brush up on some forgotten training with an older dog, we want to give you the tools to create a loving and respectful relationship with your dog.

About the Owner:
Hello, My name is Jennifer, and I'm the owner of Bone Worx. My passion for dogs started when my wife, Jeri, and I adopted our 2 Tweenie Dachshunds. Stella was our first, and 6 months later we found Maggie. Our world changed as soon as we brought Stella into our home. We enrolled Stella into training classes and were amazed how much was involved in training a dog. It literally is a full-time job. I developed a deep interest in how their curious minds worked. I had found my calling.
It was then that I decided I wanted to be a dog trainer. I wanted to help dogs and their owners better understand each other in order to live their lives to the fullest.
After 30 years of working in retail, I decided to make that change. Still having a passion for working with people, I started working with the Oregon Humane Society and the Pixie Project in 2016. I was able to work with a wide range of people and dogs with many different issues and challenges. I graduated from the Animal Behavioral College in 2016 as a Certified Dog Trainer and Pet Sitter. In 2017 I graduated from The Dog*Tec Dog Walking Academy as a Professional Dog Walker. I am PetTech certified in CPR and Pet First-Aid. I carry all necessary first aid and fight protocol equipment with me on all my walks.
In 2017 I was hired by Doggy Business to work their Training Playgroups. There, I was able to put into practice my dog training skills. The training playgroups were 4 hours each and roughly had 20-25 dogs. This allowed for intense analytic problem solving and time to create training plans. Understanding and respecting that every dog is different but they learn in the same way was a critical building block. Being able to build an understanding concerning both mental and physical well-being was crucial to the success of the relationship with each of the dogs. Outside the Playgroup, I assisted Doug in his Fear and Aggression cases. This included canine shyness or confidence issues, dog-dog fear and aggression, and human-directed fear.
I'm a member of the Pet Professionals Guild and I am committed to continuing my own education through workshops, seminars, and conventions, and I'm an active member of the dog training community, collaborating and learning alongside fellow trainers.
