Blue House Child Care

I have always loved working with children and have over 25 years of experiences as a babysitter, nanny, teacher and currently new mother. My 2 year old son and I are looking to care part-time for one child in our home in North Durham starting now. We spend our days exploring nature, playing, listening and dancing to music, reading books, experimenting with new art materials and going on outings to the library, Duke Gardens and the Life and Science Museum. We live in a cozy little blue house with a fenced in backyard.

I have an extensive background in the creative and performing arts for young children along with much knowledge in early childhood development. I have found a good balance between a routine with napping and meal times but also having time for new experiences and fun activities. My son and I often go on outings, and we make sure to get outside each day. We have a large library of children's books, a swing set and sandbox, lots of fun instruments and lots of toys. We also have one dog who loves kids.

A little bit about me:
After graduating with a degree in art therapy, I joined the Peace Corps as an art teacher in West Africa. Upon returning to the US, I completed my master's degree in art therapy and my husband and I moved to North Carolina where we have been for the last 6 years. After my son was born in August, 2014, I left my art therapy job at a hospital to be home with him.

I am child/infant CPR trained and have references upon request. I am comfortable with and have experience working with babies. Please feel free to email me with any questions. I look forward to finding another child to join my son and me each day as we explore.
