The Bloomington Montessori School (BMS) is a privately funded, not-for-profit school for children ages 3 to 12, preschool through Grade 6. The school was founded in 1968, by a group of parents who wanted Montessori education for their children. The school moved to its present location in 1983 and was expanded for the second time in 2012. The building was specifically designed to suit the needs of children learning in a Montessori environment. The school has six classrooms with each having a Montessori certified Lead teacher and two assistants. Full and half-day options are available for Preschool children (ages 3-5) with Elementary students (grades 1 - 6) attending 8:30 to 3:30, M-F. Childacare is available from 3:30 - 5:30, M-F for elementary age children. BMS has been a full member of the American Montessori Society since 1971.
