Birthways is a community of doulas that has matched more than 3,500 families to labor support & postpartum doulas. Our matching process is designed to help us learn about you and help you learn about your doula care options on any budget.

Since 1997, the Birthways community of doulas have been helping Chicago area families feel confident and supported during pregnancy, birth, and early parenting. Our doulas have diverse backgrounds and related experience in many different fields, including childcare, parenting their own children, social work, nursing, massage therapy, lactation support, mental health, and midwifery. They must pass nationwide criminal background checks, receive excellent references, and complete our extensive training program, which covers postpartum recovery, infant care, mood disorders, and breastfeeding. Our doulas stay current on evidence-based information, attending workshops and training throughout the year to meet their continuing education requirements. They are well-supported in their work with families with our team of experts, which includes board-certified lactation consultants, midwives, massage therapists, and mental health professionals.
