Birth To Five Early Learning Center

Birth to Five Early learning Center is designed to support the physical, cognitive, communication and social/emotional development for all children ages four weeks through age five. We work diligently to develop caring, supportive, respectful and responsive relationships with our children and their families.

We welcome all families to Birth to Five and accept DSHS. Birth to Five Participates in the State of Washington's Early Achievers Program and is current rated a Level 3 Program which indicates that the program has achieved a "quality level of excellence" though an on-site evaluation conducted by the University of Washington. The program also participates in the USDA Food Program. We provide breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack for our children.

For all children, language education and play are the major components of our program. Enough time, material and space will be provided for children to actively explore the world around them. Children will have the opportunity to use variety of art material, manipulative and housekeeping equipment. We use Mother Goose TIme Curriculum which is tied to Washington State's Early Learning Standards.

Some activities include:
- Language Development: Books, music, modeling of communication, learning new vocabulary and story time.
- Large Muscle Skills: Outdoor play, riding toys, climbing, and balls.
- Small Muscle Skills: putting things in and out of containers, coloring, stinging beads, arts and crafts, building with blocks.
- Self-Help skills: including eating, dressing and hand washing.
- Literacy Skills: books, stories, alphabet and writing games.

Infants and Waddlers (children under the age of two) will have flexible schedules which reflect each child's individual needs. They will be given individual attention including lots of time for talking. The body position of non-mobile infants and their location in their classroom will changed frequently. We will provide a safe, open space for the babies who are creeping and crawling. Infants and toddlers will be encouraged to play with a variety of safe toys. We enjoy activities that are planned to provide children with a variety of developmental experiences, the majority of which focus on learning!
