I am a state certified Child Daycare Home and utilize the NES food program. I have a schoolhouse in my home as well as an outdoor play ground. Meals are provided. I am an LPN as well as a veteran of OIF/911. I have a daughter of 18 months old, and love motherhood! Over the past year I held a music program at several preschools on the Northshore, and am able to provide references from each respective director.
In May of this year I opened Auntie Em's Schoolhouse in my home. It is my goal to provide children in my care with the educational and social benefits of preschool along with the comfort and security of home. As a child's earliest relationships are vital to their social development, I intend to foster a loving, respectful, and secure relationship with each child in my care that the child can depend on. In doing this, each child will have the opportunity to develop healthy attachments with others, and a secure sense of self that will contribute to their social attitude for years to come.
I love to educate children. Each child has limits and boundaries firmly set with generous freedom within those boundaries. Each child will have a voice that is heard and responded to with respect each day. Human interaction is paramount in the learning process and I typically only use media as an accompaniment to a lesson or for interactive play. I will encourage each child's ability to play independently, as well as work well with others.
Educationally speaking, the schoolhouse focuses on gross motor skills, fine motor skills, cognitive and language development, along with self-help, and social and emotional well being. I wish to meet each child where they are in their development, and provide the environment, tools and encouragement needed for their growth.
It is my hope that the schoolhouse is an extension of the home. I encourage parental input and always have an open door policy. Please help me learn who your child is. Help me know their like and dislikes, or any special needs they may have. I would be happy to oblige.
