About

Until my son's birth in May 2013, I was a Teacher with Wake County schools. I am now a stay at home mom, and would like to provide a loving home environment that will enable your child to thrive.
I have an extensive background in teaching and childcare. As a child, I observed the preschool classes my mom taught. I babysat for many families in my community as a young adolescent, and by seventeen I was teaching dance classes to students from toddlers to teens. I loved working with children and soon found myself teaching dance, music theater, and sports at private studios, after-school programs, community centers, church school, and camps. Many of the classes I taught were combo classes for toddlers aged 2-4. These were my favorite classes to teach because of the challenge of keeping the students' attention, ensuring their safety while building their coordination, and allowing for them to use their imaginations and creativity. The owner of Pam Rossi's Dance Ten in Moorpark, California told me that I was a natural with young kids, and she trusted me to care for her young boys starting from infancy.
This led to my career as a teacher in public schools. For the last four years, I have taught science to middle school and high school aged students. Although I was teaching older children, I drew on many the same principles that I had learned while teaching younger students. Some strategies I employed were: keeping the students' attention by varying activities, allowing them opportunities to interact and learn from each other, planning lessons with their abilities and interests in mind, positively redirecting behavior, and encouraging every effort so that they had a safe environment in which to grow and learn. I will care for your child with the same philosophy. Children in my care will have circle time, be taught music and movement/dance, be read stories, go on walks, play with developmental toys, have play dates, and be nurtured and loved. My number one priority is tailoring the care to the specific needs and personality of your child.
Please consider giving me the honor of taking care of your little one.
