About the business
Hello! I am currently a special education teacher in Meriden. I am going on my 11th year of teaching, but I have been tutoring for over 15 years. I have four degrees; elementary education, special education (K-12), literacy, and educational supervisor/administrator.
My teaching and leadership experiences have been geared toward the empowerment of all school children, specifically those with disabilities. However, I have tutored many students who have 504s or are in the general education setting, as well. I have a strong passion to educate young minds and help them blossom into responsible, successful, independent, self-sufficient learners. Throughout the course of my childcare and teaching experiences, I have had wonderful opportunities to work with and teach diverse groups of students, including those with learning disabilities, those who performed at grade level, those who were gifted and those who had emotional and behavioral challenges. I have worked in school districts that are considered high performing and prestigious, as well as those that have a lower socio-economic status and are in urban areas. As a result, I have become proficient at designing creative and stimulating lesson plans, which accommodate multiple intelligences, bring a hands-on approach to learning, meet the Common Core State Standards, and keep students and adults interested, focused, and engaged.
With the current situation we are in, I have been doing a majority of my tutoring online with Google Meets or Zoom Meetings. However, if your child needs someone in person and/or is special needs, I am willing to come to your home, have the child come to my home, or meet somewhere like a school, or public library. My rate is pretty standard and although it is not as inexpensive as some other listings, I am a very well rounded, experienced teacher with four degrees and I love to think outside the box with creative and engaging lessons to help your child(ren) grow and learn.
I can tutor in any grade level and any subject area including life skills, social skills, social emotional learning, early intervention, etc. I look forward to hearing from you. References are available upon request.
Respectfully,
Diana D
