Alicia Durham

I am a stay at home mom and home school teacher. I love spending time with my child and others; whether its using volunteer work through our nonprofit to benefit the kids and our community, teaching Sunday school at church or working VBS in the summertime. My passion is children and seeing the world through their eyes. We are a busy family and love spending time outdoors working in the yard, observing nature, fishing or splashing around in the water, working our hobby farm and canning our bounty, we love to hike and bike and love spending time in our beautiful downtown Mckinney. I have been watching children since I was 10 years old and had the pleasure of watching my nieces grow up into beautiful young women. After college I have had gainful employment at state of the art preschools and further expanded my love of children there, worked with at risk youth in detention centers. We have a designated area in our home that provides ample space for each child. I am registered thru the state of Texas and can accommodate 10 children. That has never been my goal, we range from 3 to 6 kids and I can accommodate newborns through pre-k. I have a full time assistant and we spend a lot of time going to the Dallas Zoo, splash parks, playgrounds and Kid Mania. When we aren't on a field trip we spend our days with arts and crafts, music exploration, sign language and Spanish. We practice numbers and letters, we learn important life skills such as our first and last names, parents, phone numbers. Yes we even practice tying our laces. Potty training takes place here as well and I introduce at 2 and we are consistent with our "go" times. We use a potty timer and the kids love it. I would love a chance to get to know you and your family and have you come to my home and take a look around. I am an all inclusive family daycare and I provide all diapers, disposable or cloth (new),wipes,meals,drinks and snacks, every child has their own cot or crib depending on age and a brand new car seat that is purchased for them at start of care. We eat a clean, healthy diet. I do not serve dairy and I am not on a food program. I believe that a diet free of dyes and GMO's provides for a much happier child. We are a Christian home.
