Albemarle Montessori is a warm, friendly school designed to enrich your child’s whole being. Our Montessori classrooms are beautifully prepared environments designed to meet the needs and development of your child at each age level. Every material in the classroom supports an aspect of child development, creating a link between your child’s natural interests to the classroom work. Your child will be able to learn through their own experience and at their own pace. This educational approach was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori and provides for a deeper understanding of language, mathematics, science, geography, history, music, art, social interactions, and so much more!

Montessori is one of the fastest growing forms of education in this country, and we adhere to the highest Montessori standards at AMCC. We are the only AMI-recognized school in Central Virginia, with classrooms for varying age groups. Our Toddler/Pre-Primary Program has eighteen-month-olds to three-year-olds, and lays a foundation for independence and an introduction to practical life. Our Primary Classes are for ages three through six, and offers a three year long comprehensive Montessori program that will successfully bring your child through his or her Kindergarten year. Our Elementary Program has first through sixth graders and promotes exploration, collaborative work, research projects, gregarious and independent lessons, and interactive discovery in every subject. Recent research in child development and education highlights the quality of the Montessori method for educating children and the life-long benefits they gain. The children develop critical-thinking skills, self-confidence, self-initiative, and emotional intelligence. The end result is that your child is prepared academically, socially, and emotionally with a deeper understanding of the concepts and theories that are the foundation of a quality education – all while retaining a love of learning and the acquisition of knowledge!
