Afton Nature School

Afton Nature School is a year round exclusive child care program for children ages 2 years through 7 years of age. We offer full and part-time options and have a new class starting now. We have moved away from the common model of institutional childcare, to provide a better experience for the children in our care. We believe children thrive in an educational environment within the warmth of a home setting (The Yale Model). Our classroom is clean and full of natural light. As NC Certified teachers, we apply the best of Reggio Inspired Learning, Nature Based Learning, and Research Based Early Childhood philosophies. With our small teacher to student ratio each child gets the attention and focus needed to succeed. Our mission is to provide our young learners with engaging and enjoyable play experiences that maximize their intellectual, social and physical development. The design of the program provides for a seamless transition into formal academics. We are located off Guess Road just North of St. Mary's/Mason Road in the North Durham/Hillsborough area.
