About the business
Our Kirkland Tutoring Center provides additional learning opportunities for students in pre-kindergarten through high school and even college. We give students the academic edge to become more competitive and personally fulfilled. We provide one-on-one skill-focused tutoring; test prep for school classes and all standardized tests; educational consulting; student monitoring and academic and career planning.
Our tutors have years of teaching and tutoring experience, and can help identify a student's individual needs. Then, the tutor provides a unique plan and even creates specialized curriculum for that student.
We work with students, parents, teachers and counselors to better understand the student. Through understanding, we are able to help.
Our Goals:
- Improve student achievement in reading, writing, and mathematics, through one-on-one tutoring.
- Provide individualized and personalized instructional programs so students can work at their own skill level pace.
- Motivate students to excel through developing individual goals and benchmarks.
- Add depth and enrichment to student learning to strive beyond grade level.
- Help with home-to-school communication to facilitate academic success.
- Provide flexible scheduling for parents so that students can attend during business hours, evenings and weekends.
- Help parents understand the status of their child s learning.
- Facilitate additional learning opportunities through tutoring to help students find more success.
- Provide independent study tutored courses for additional high school credits.
- Provide motivational, caring atmosphere for learning.

Thanks to the vision of our director, Jan Link, the tutors at Academic Link have the ability to create specialized curriculum and tutoring plans, tailor-made for each individual student. No books of worksheets or "rules" about how to teach a student here! Jan's belief in giving students the tools they need to be successful comes from a lifetime dedication to education.
Jan Link, a retired elementary and high school principal, provides students with the necessary tools and guidance to meet their academic needs. She has had extensive experience in providing additional learning opportunities for children through directing summer school programs, intercessions for a year-round school, and providing after-school classes. She applies her love of learning and her dedication to the success of all children to help students excel. She employs staff who shares her strong belief in the success of children. She connects students who want to learn with teachers who want to teach.
Jan believes strongly in the state and the nations focus on increased achievement; but also believes strongly that with this expectation comes the responsibility to provide what it takes to get children to meet that expectation. Her mission is to provide that help.
Our tutors range from certified teachers and retired educators to professional tutors who hold degrees in their subject specialties. Most of our tutors have been with us for years! We have watched our students grow up, graduate, and get into college. Come find out why our families have been with us for over a decade!
