I tutor students for the P.SAT, SAT, and ACT. I aid the students in their college search and application process. I have most recently tutored a student for six years who recently graduated from S.M.U. I tutored all subjects, including statistics and algebra, but I spent most of the time with philosophy classes. I have tutored others for seven years from sixth grade to twelfth grade. Since I graduated with honors in both English literature and history, writing is my specialty. This is most helpful with college applications. I help in all subjects in high school and middle school, focusing on organization and study habits, except for chemistry, physics, pre-calculus, and calculus. We use a little pre-cal in the SAT, of course. I've had several linguistics classes, as precursors to a masters in linguistics, which help me to teach English as a second language. The classes also helped me learn phonemes as a basis for teaching reading. Ten years of experience in teaching reading and beginning English at Kumon also contribute to my experience in working with the student whose native language is not English. I've worked with students of varying abilities, some of whom went to UT and Notre Dame. Others have struggled and have accommodations from the disability office, yet we've been able to accomplish so much.

I've had years of working with students and completely enjoy the relationships I build with them. I look forward to long-term clients, though in preparing for the SAT and college application process, one year to two years is all I sometimes get! I consider myself serving the family, not just the child, since the parents and I usually work together on our goals for the student. My work is extremely rewarding.

I am now working a full-time job in business but seek a few students to enrich my life. I miss working with them! Beginning reading in first, second, or third is especially fun!
I view myself as support for school, filling in the gaps, not replacing what the teacher does.
