Innovation, growth, and opportunity: Why Dallas is Care.com’s next home

Care.com's CEO, Brad Wilson, shares why Dallas is the ideal home for the company's new headquarters and next chapter.

Innovation, growth, and opportunity: Why Dallas is Care.com’s next home

I still vividly remember the first day I moved to Dallas. It was the summer of the 1984 Olympics–the air was thick with heat, but the warmth of the people made an even bigger impression. From that very moment, I knew Dallas was home. Over the years, this city has shaped my life in ways I could have never imagined. It’s where I found lifelong friendships, where I met the love of my life, and where my children were born. Dallas has always been more than a place to live–it’s a place that has defined who I am.

So, you can imagine my excitement as we explored options for our new headquarters, and Dallas emerged as the clear front-runner–offering the right mix of talent, energy, and opportunity to fuel our next chapter.

Why Dallas, why now?

If you’ve ever spent time in Dallas, you know it’s a city built for momentum. It’s home to a blooming tech and business ecosystem where platform-based companies, innovators, and entrepreneurs are shaping industries. It’s a pro-business city that rewards initiative and welcomes bold ideas. That’s exactly what we are looking for in our next chapter.

Dallas is a magnet for world-class talent. That’s critical as we need a strong team to help solve the incredibly complex challenges around caregiving—from helping parents find trusted child care solutions, to simplifying the notoriously stressful senior care search, to offering flexible job opportunities for professional caregivers. While tech and product development are top of mind for us, we are also looking for bright minds in other key sectors like HR, finance, marketing, and customer experience so we can build a well-rounded team that reflects the energy of this city.

Additionally, we have teammates across our offices in Austin (TX), Salt Lake City (UT), Shelton (CT) and New York (NY), along with a remote workforce throughout the U.S. and in Germany, so we wanted to create a central hub where teams could come together with purpose. Dallas offers the infrastructure to support that vision–from its international airport to neighborhoods ripe with cultural influences, hospitality, arts, and sports. This isn’t just about having an office–it’s about creating an environment where people feel connected, inspired, and empowered to do their best work.

Expanding our Texas footprint

This move is about expansion, not departure. Austin has been an incredible home for us, and it will continue to be a key part of our company’s footprint. We’re not leaving–we’re growing. By establishing our headquarters in Dallas while maintaining our presence in Austin, we are deepening our roots in one of the country’s most dynamic and fast-growing tech markets.

Texas is a leader in technology and innovation, and we’re proud to be a part of that momentum. Having a presence in both Dallas and Austin allows us to tap into two unique, flourishing business communities, broadening our access to top talent and creating new opportunities for collaboration.

Additionally, as staunch advocates for the improvement of the country’s family care infrastructure, it’s important to have a presence near the state capitol to stay engaged with policymakers and legislative discussions that impact Texas families and the care industry. Building on momentum we’ve already generated, we’ll continue our work with the local government to influence policies that reduce care costs, expand flexible care options, and equip employers with the tools to support their employees’ diverse care needs.

A city that inspires big ideas

Dallas has a way of pushing people to dream bigger, move faster, and challenge what’s possible. The sense of ambition here is contagious. John Steinbeck once wrote, “Texas is a state of mind. Texas is an obsession. Above all, Texas is a nation in every sense of the word.” This couldn’t be any more true. Dallas is bold, dynamic, and built for the future. It’s a place that welcomes ideas that challenge the status quo, nurtures an environment where businesses thrive, and brings people together to create something meaningful.

I have no doubt that our next chapter here will be our most transformative yet, and our team will fit right in.
