We are a family located in Mississauga seeking a dedicated and compassionate person to assist a non-speaking autistic young adult who will be attending university. The ideal candidate will have a strong mathematical background and a passion for helping others succeed. This position requires meeting with the family and getting to know the student over the next few months before the term starts in September. The support person will work closely with the student to support his communication and provide academic support as needed. This is NOT a tutoring position. Mandatory Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, physics, computer science or equivalent knowledge - Availability of about 20 hours per week. - Ability to commit to meeting with the family and student regularly over the next few months. - Willingness to undergo training to become proficient in the communication with the individual. - Ability to attend university lessons with the student (the ideal candidate has a valid driver's licence and reliable transportation). Optional Requirements: - Prior experience working with neurodivergent people. - Familiarity with the university environment and academic expectations. - Strong interpersonal skills.
