My 74-yr old father has recently become debilitated by an autoimmune disease that leaves him largely immobilized. He is nonetheless fully aware, and often able to fully articulate himself. He will be transitioning from a rehab hospital, back home to a condo in the coming weeks or months. Once home, my mother will need regular assistance (likely daily, or at least several hours, several days a week) to help my father with eating, getting to and from the washroom, doing rehabilitation exercises, etc., while she continues to work from home. Both my parents are polite, compassionate, highly educated professionals (professor & psychologist), and are looking for someone reliable, articulate, and with whom they can develop a long-term trusting relationship of care, for the foreseeable future. As my father is a 6’, 170lbs man, strength would be a plus, as would be any medical training or nursing experience. Fluency in English is required, Spanish is a bonus. Ideally, we would first set up a meet-and-greet at a rehab hospital in south Vancouver, then have a paid trial session, in which you could care for my father for up to one day, while my mother works. Then, if the match is a good, we would transition into regular hours as is workable for everyone’s schedule.

Looking for help housekeeping, helping with physiotherapy routine. Would be great to have someone who drives to get out of the house as I’m stuck in bed a lot but not a deal breaker. Really isolated due to disability so just some companionship would go a long way. I am ambulatory and don’t need help with personal care.
